Amethyst is a violet variety of the quartz family, it occurs in large geodes formed within volcanic rocks.
The word amethyst is derived from the greek word amethystos meaning "not drunken", which is a reference to the belief that the stone would protect them from intoxication
These earrings come packaged on my business contact card & sealed in a clear cellophane envelope to ensure the stud wires are as clean as possible on arrival (an example of earrings in this packaging can be seen in the second photo), however, I do recommend the ear wires on all new earrings (purchased from any shop or seller) are wiped with a little Dettol (or similar) before first use
